Titled “Civilization and Nap,” this painting uses vibrant red and blue colors to skillfully express two contrasting concepts. Civilization is born from a hard-working life, while naps are often seen as a symbol of laziness. However, this work explores the deep relationship between these two words.

Diligence and sleep are important factors that actually have a positive effect on each other. Naps help refresh the mind and body and increase creativity and productivity. Through this work, I would like to visually express this affinity and offer the viewer a new perspective.

The work features countless clocks, which symbolize the greatness of the vast amount of time required to build civilization. The ticking of the clocks suggests the changes in human activities over time, and stresses the importance of a balance between hard work and rest.
